Bastimentos Town “Old Bank”
A 5-minute boat ride away from our resort is “Old Bank” on Bastimentos Island. Discovered by Spanish explorers in 1502AD, today you will find a small community with a rich culture. Home to a Afro-carribean population many of whom’s ancestors arrived to the area to work for Chiquita Banana in the early 20th century,
The historic town of Old Bank has its own unique charm. Wander the interconnected footpaths that are free of roads or cars and listen to the locals speak “guari-guari” dialect. We suggest visiting during April to enjoy the Bastimentos International Fair or September to celebrate the sea with boat races and celebrations. Learn more about this beautiful neighboring town at our Activities Desk or from our friendly resort staff who call the town home- and don't hesitate to drop by during your stay!
